have you ever heard of a probabilty called Branch change option. !  you could try that !
As I see there is no other options left . With the branch change option you can study in EC from second year onwards . but this years Branch change option is not yet published. please stay tuned to the blog. These are the guidelines and instructions from yesteryear branch change circular

GUIDELINES FOR BRANCH/COLLEGE CHANGE
(FOR 2012 ADMISSIONS ONLY)

1. Branch change/College change is applicable only for students of 2012 admissions studying in SOE and CUCEK.
2. Students admitted in 2012 through spot admissions are not eligible for this branch change.
3. The NRI candidates will be considered for  vacancies in NRI category Only
4. The transfer shall be based on the CAT rank obtained by the candidate subject to the availability of vacancy in the concerned branch/college of his/her options.
5. All vacancies on the date of processing of branch change are only in General Payment Category. However, KSC/KST vacancies will be in the payment category of the respective reservation category.
6. Any vacancy arising during the process of branch change will automatically be converted to General Payment Category only.
7. However, the KSC/KST vacancies generated during the process will be filled in the payment category by transferring the eligible candidate belonging to the respective category only.
8. The resultant vacancies due to the transfer of an NRI will be filled in by transferring the eligible candidate belonging to the respective category. However, if no applicant is available in the NRI category, such seats will be converted to General Payment Category.
9. Changes in the fees, if any, shall have prospective effect only. There shall not be any refund of fee / deposit paid in any case of transfer.  In the case of transfer from free to payment seat, fees applicable in the payment seat have to be paid for the remaining semesters.
10. Branch change is subject to the probable vacancies which are likely to occur at the end of I&II semester. During the process of branch/college change vacancies can be created in some branches other than those existing at the beginning. Hence, candidates can choose any branch of his/her options for branch change from the list of B.Tech programmes offered in SOE and CUCEK.
11. Candidates should apply though online for the branch change and fill in all the details in the   Online Application form.  Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected.

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES FOR BRANCH CHANGE

1. The students who wish to apply for the branch change must register in the website XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX using their Register Number and Roll No of CAT 2012.
2. The website will be open from XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
3. After registering their options, a printout of the same may be taken and submitted to the Principal along with a self attested copy of their CAT 2012 admit card and identity card.
4. The students are allowed to change their options at any time till the last date in the website. However the options in the hard copy received in this office through the Principal will be considered as final.
5. The students should submit only one application form to the office of the Principal. If more than one form is submitted, the latest application submitted by the candidate, duly recommended by the Principal will only be considered.
