Marine engineering is easy to get in CUSAT.

The Salary package is high .

But u have to stay in the seas for long periods.

On the other hand u need a rank under 400 to have chances to get in Ship building.

U get high packages, more than Marine and and your job description is more like Mech engineer only that u are specialised in Ship technology Field.

From what i have learnt.. in ship tech like mechanical u get to learn a lot, can work in many positions and progress greatly in your career unlike marine where u have to do the same thing for long long years.

I guess Ship tech is better anyday than marine engineering.

the avg package, job satisfaction and most important the working conditions makes ship tech more demanding and a better branch (this is my view)

search about both a bit on net and you will come to know more regarding that
